An information system for marine pests in Australian waters

NIMPIS is the National Introduced Marine Pest Information System and provides easy access to information on introduced marine pest species in Australia.

NIMPIS contains detailed information on the biology, ecology and distribution of pest species known to have been introduced to Australian waters as well as potential control options for selected pests.

It also provides information on species considered a high risk for future introductions.

NIMPIS can be searched by species name (taxonomic or common name) through the basic search function. The advance search function allows users to search by taxonomic group, invasive status in Australia, distribution or by CAAB (Codes for Australian Aquatic Biota), ITIS (Integrated Taxonomic Information System) or CRIMP (Centre for Research on Introduced Marine Pests) number.
