View Sample Catchment Scale Land Use Data

This page allows users to view a sample of catchment scale land use mapping. This particular sample is for an area around Grafton in New South Wales. Once loaded, the dataset is displayed using the full Australian Land Use and Management (ALUM) classification. In order to view the dataset, ArcReader or an equivalent GIS software package needs to be installed on your computer. Alternatively, land use data can be viewed using an online mapping tool.

To view the dataset using ArcReader:

• You will need to first install the free GIS software supplied on the DVD version or download ArcReader from the internet (read more about ArcReader software).
• Once ArcReader is installed, click on the map below to begin viewing.

To access the sample catchment land use data using an MXD file (for ArcMap) using the DVD version:

• Open an ArcGIS session
• Prompts will appear - choose 'start using ArcMap with an existing map'
• 'Browse for maps' in the DVD directory under 'My Computer' and navigate to the nsw_example.mxd. (located at \landuse\Landuse_data\Catchment\nsw_example.mxd)
