|
This website shows maps of Australia's vegetation The Integrated Vegetation dataset provides one source for major vegetation cover types Australia. Information on vegetation includes native forests and grasslands and non-native vegetation (e.g. pine plantations, improved pasture and crops). There are 87 maps presented by regions for the 22 National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality (NAP) and 65 Natural Resource Management (NRM) regions. The vegetation has been derived from various sources over many years and is shown in simplified form in 10 Vegetation Cover classes:
Click on one of the regions listed on the left to display a map. Note: While the online Integrated Vegetation Dataset is displayed at 100 m resolution for the user's convenience, it must be noted that the 'real' level of resolution of this data set varies from 1:100,000 to 1:2,500,000 scale. This variation arises because the dataset was compiled from a range of sources, the coarsest input scale being 1:2,500,000. The sources of these input data in each region is shown as a 'thumbnail map', which is linked to the detailed metadata statements describing each of the input datasets. |
