Step 6 - Understanding 'Pasture Growth outlook'
This page shows the pasture growth index to date as well as those for all previously recorded years.
There are two graphs - the top one shows weekly growth figures, the bottom shows the accumulated growth figures.
It should allow you to see the trends of pasture growth in the past and therefore make a qualified estimation as to the short-term pasture growth for the future (three months into the future)
The vertical axis on the graph shows the pasture growth. 0 means there is NO growth and 1 means there is MAXIMUM possible growth.
So the higher the line - the more pasture growth.
Use this outlook to compare:
- future livestock demand for feed, AGAINST
- expected supply from pasture.
The graphs have a legend and illustrated instructions to help you get the most from each.
