This vegetation chapter provides national guidelines and methods for the capture, interpretation and classification of vegetation data and information that meet the requirements of the National Vegetation Information System (NVIS) (NLWRA 2001, ESCAVI 2003).The aim is to assist vegetation scientists to survey, classify and map vegetation types to the association and sub-association level of detail (ESCAVI 2003).This chapter has been jointly produced by the National Land & Water Resources Audit and BRS. A summarised version of this is included in the 2008 Yellow Book published by CSIRO.
